Adventure, heroes, swordfights, puppets, and a HUGE dragon!
Theatre in the Rough brings to life Qui Nguyen's SHE KILLS MONSTERS,
a uniquely dramatic comedy journeying through the world of fantasy,
real life, grief, and love. SHE KILLS MONSTERS tells the story of
Agnes Evans as she comes to terms with the death of her teenage sister,
Tilly. When she finds Tilly's Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she
embarks on an adventure in the imaginary world that was Tilly's
refuge. She Kills Monsters is a surprisingly sweet tale of friendship,
loss, and acceptance. The play uses savvy humor to explore overcoming
loss and what it means to be queer and in doing so creates something
wholly original. In this high-octane comedy laden with homicidal
fairies, hobgoblins, and 90s pop culture, acclaimed playwright
Qui Nguyen (VIETGONE, LIVING DEAD IN DENMARK) offers a heart-pounding
homage to the geek and warrior within us all.
